Answer the calls you're missing

Local Voice answers your phone after hours and books callers onto your calendar, so these jobs stop going to voicemail.

How this is calculated, and every source

Missed calls a month × the share that never get a callback (69%, Quo) × your industry's booking or conversion rate × your sales rate × the average job value = sales lost each month. Times 12 for the year. Divide the monthly total by your missed calls to get the cost of one missed call. Callers round to whole numbers. Jobs and sales are averages rounded to one decimal. The sales rate starts at 62% for plumbing, HVAC and electrical, the typical contractor's same-visit close rate (ServiceTitan). Every other industry starts at a conservative 25%, set below the published close rates we found: 26.9% for in-home home improvement consultations (Siro) and 62% for trade estimates (ServiceTitan). The missed-call count is your number, not a statistic. We only use figures we can trace to a named, published source.

How much does a missed call cost a business?

It depends on your trade, booking rate, close rate and average job. A plumber who misses 30 calls a month loses about $252 per missed call, or $90,588 a year, using the calculator's starting figures. Enter your own numbers above to see yours.

Where do the default numbers come from?

Each one links to a published source. Quo covers callbacks, ServiceTitan and Invoca cover booking and conversion rates, ServiceTitan and Siro cover close rates, and Angi covers job values. We leave out any figure we can't trace to a study.

Why does the sales rate start at 62% for some trades and 25% for others?

ServiceTitan found typical plumbing, HVAC and electrical contractors close 62% of estimates on the first visit, so those trades start there. Every other industry starts at 25%, a conservative figure set below the published close rates we found. Slide it to your own close rate.

How do I find out how many calls I miss?

Open your phone's call log or your phone provider's dashboard and count last month's unanswered calls. That number goes in step 2.

    Is the result a guarantee?

No. It estimates the sales you lose, using published averages. Your own call log, booking rate and close rate make it more accurate.
